The Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) of the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2018-19 DNP PhD Thesis Prize is Dr. Erich Leistenschneider. Dr. Leistenschneider was awarded his Ph.D. by the University of British Columbia in 2019 for his thesis \u201cDawning of nuclear magicity in N=32 seen through precision mass spectrometry\u201d, under the supervision of Dr. Jens Dilling (TRIUMF & UBC). <\/p>\n

For his research project, Dr. Leistenschneider used the Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear science (TITAN) at TRIUMF, the Canadian National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics.<\/p>\n

Dr. Leistenschneider was invited to give a talk at the CAP Annual Congress in June 2020 held at McMaster University, and will receive a cash award of $1,000 from the DNP. His travel expenses will be generously covered by TRIUMF. A two-page summary of his thesis work will appear in an issue of Physics in Canada.<\/p>\n
